Spontaneous wedding photography in South Limburg

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful wedding of Dorien and Michael, a day filled with lovely emotions. The day began with capturing the bride's makeup and her best friend at her parents' home in Nuth, where Marlou took care of the bride's makeup and hair. It was wonderfully relaxed there; the mother got dressed, and Dorien and Michael's little daughter got dressed as well. Together with her mother, the bride hung the wedding dress on a beautiful tree in the garden, where I photographed their daughter's adorable dress.

Photos of the bride getting dressed: time to put on the beautiful wedding dress

Then it was slowly time to put on the dress, with the help of the mother, while Marlou took care of the little one's hair. Michael was already on his way in their beautiful classic convertible wedding car. He stopped in front of the door and was warmly welcomed by his mother-in-law before walking to the beautiful green garden, where the couple would meet for the first time in wedding attire.

Wedding theme: Lord of the Rings even appears in the boutonnieres

Following that, boutonnieres were handed out to all family and friends. Dorien had handmade them from book pages with the theme "The Lord of The Rings." In the same theme, she had also made the beautiful bridal bouquet (which took 100 hours to create) with flower petals from book pages and a ring on the bouquet stems.

The bride has to climb into the wedding car with a ladder

Getting into the wedding car was a bit of an adventure because the car had no doors. Therefore, the bride had to climb into the car with a ladder, and then she was completely squeezed between layers of fabric and her hoop skirt. As a cherry on top, she received a cloth around her hair to ensure her bridal hairstyle wouldn't be affected. Throughout the entire day, Dorien was radiant and smiling at everything.

Getting married in the museum of Hoensbroek Castle

I quickly headed to Hoensbroek Castle, where there is a beautiful wedding hall in the museum, where the civil ceremony would take place. After photographing the arrival, the humorous ladder exit, and the walk over the bridge to the castle, the beautiful ceremony began. Naturally, their adorable daughter played a significant role, as she brought the box with the rings and a bracelet for herself.

A guard of honor on the bridge of Hoensbroek Castle followed by a wedding reportage in the setting of "Living History Limburg"

After the ceremony, the newlyweds were greeted with a guard of honor on the bridge, followed by delicious wedding cake (personally tested by me) and a toast in a castle hall. After everyone had gathered on the terrace for drinks, I went with Dorien and Michael to create the wedding reportage around Hoensbroek Castle, first with the wedding car and then a few photos with their little daughter. After that, I used the backdrop of "Living History Limburg" for the wedding reportage. Michael was draped in a real bearskin, which was very warm but resulted in some really nice photos.

In between, editing wedding photos for a presentation during the evening party at Hoensbroek Castle

When the wedding dinner buffet started, I went home to edit some photos that would be shown on a projector during the evening party.

Time to capture the opening dance in Rock and Roll style

I returned at half-past eight to capture the opening dance, a Rock and Roll dance for which the bride had changed into a special outfit. We also took some beautiful photos during the golden hour, with the stunning sunset. The rest of the evening, I captured candid moments of speeches, people dancing, and a few photos of Dorien and Michael in the evening, illuminated by the castle's spotlights.

I said goodbye to this lovely couple around half-past ten.

"Zelfs weken na de bruiloft krijgen we nog complimenten van gasten over hoe professioneel de fotograaf was; nooit nadrukkelijk aanwezig, maar alle mooie momenten perfect vastgelegd. Uiteindelijk zijn we met een dikker album geëindigd dan verwacht, maar dat zullen we maar een luxeprobleem noemen.. Absoluut een aanrader voor prachtige foto's waarop niet geposeerd wordt."
